Water Droplets to Charge Smartphones

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT researchers discovered that when droplets of water simultaneously bounce off a superhydrophobic surface during condensation, they can gain electric charge during the process. They have found out that the small electric charge gained can be used to power electronic devices like smartphones. During the test conducted, the researchers were able to produce 15 picowatts per centimeter of the metal plate. Video:
