Japanese simplicity and inventiveness are united in the SKYDECK, a portable piece of patio furniture that is catered to fulfilling a need you didn’t think you would have. The creators at Torafu Architecture have designed this piece as a support on patio railings and ledges, allowing you to keep your drinks, phone, or any small item(s), on this small table. Capitulating on the wood aesthetic, and manufactured by Ishinomaki Laboratories, the SKYDECK is functional, eco-friendly, and made from Canadian Red Cedar. The concept is that it uses a rotating stand that locks onto one side of the railing, while the table part is supported on the edge of the railing. By tightening a bolt at the side, the table is locked firmly into place, so you don’t have to worry about your placed items tipping over. When one thinks of patio furniture, the first thing that comes to mind is not “something for my patio railing.” The idea may be unconventional, but when that idea is also easy-to-carry, easy-to-use, and useful for something you didn’t know you needed, the SKYDECK is patio furniture re-imagined.
