Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic has created the the newest addition of designer chair for PLANK, an italian company that he has always collaborated with for the past decade which includes technical and material research to refine his creative plastic furniture productions. In 2014, the German designer has modified two new furnitures to his ‘Miura’ collection, consisting of a stool and table for PLANK. The materials are refined, enhancing the product’s details and offers a wide range of colour selections. The design of the stool is sharp and dynamic, but it’s proportions are built perfectly to support a much heavier weight, creating a well balanced visual and functional harmony. The stools are lightweight and easy to stack upon for the masses in a busy environment, making it an excellent choice for compact surroundings and commercial settings. Crafted in polypropylene, the stool is recyclable and suitable for both indoors and out. The way the seat is slightly sloped helps the sitter to sit in a natural position for his or her legs. It also features an angular footrest to accommodate the feet in such a way that it feels almost twice as comfortable than it looks. The stool is almost a delicate sculpture at first glance, much more than just a visually appealing art – an exemplar model of functional modern furniture.
