How you choose to take care of your body is a direct reflection of the kind of life you plan to lead. If you think this is too bold of a statement, try accomplishing anything while being bedridden—you can’t. It all starts with food. Herbert is an eco-friendly project that is here to make sure we pay attention to what matters most, our health. Based in Vienna, Ponix Systems is a company working hard to change the way we grow our food. The creator, Alex Penzias, says it best in his TED talk, “at some point, life starts.” When it does, you’re going to want to make sure you can handle it. Herbert has an in-house LED technology and hydrogen system that allows you to grow plants in any season. You simply gather which seeds you chose to plant in their biodegradable sponges, seal it in a special cap and water it. Here’s what you gain by having an in-home garden: -The ability to grow up to 15 plants at a time -Produce that is pesticide free -A significantly lower grocery bill -A conscious eco-footprint -A way to remain conscious about what you eat The settings on Herbert are very easy to adjust with its own remote control. You can dim the LED light to your preference, ensuring a low-cost energy. Since you create the weather for this garden, it allows for your fruits and vegetables to grow 40% faster than traditional farming. The average production goes from 2-3 months to 4-5 weeks time. You can grow an array of salads, herbs, vegetables, and or fruits all at your own preference and convenience. Herbert weighs in at 12 kg and measures 820 x 560 x 115 mm/ 32.3 x 22.0 x 4.5 inches.
