Flexible Printed Batteries

A startup in California is currently developing flexible, rechargeable batteries that can be printed with industrial screen printers. The design of the batteries is based on research by the cofounder of the company, Christine Ho, in collaboration with a researcher in Japan to produce microscopic zinc batteries using a 3-D printer. In the future, they are hoping to sell these small format batteries to companies that manufacture wearable gadgets, medical devices, and other technology. Their goal is to create batteries that are safe to use for devices that are applied on the body. Video:
