Damoon: Moon Inspired Tableware

Chaehoon Moon, a Seoul based artist, was inspired by ancient Korean heritage when creating this 6 piece tableware line. Each plate is handcrafted,  which results in a unique design and quality materials. When using the Damoon table set, the distinguishable art behind the plates leaves a lasting impression and a fine dining experience. The plates are made out of two materials, yughee and ott-chill lacquer. Yughee is a traditional Korean brass that has thermal properties. It has the ability to keep food cold or warm, and in the past has been used solely by royal families. A notable feature of yughee is its ability to react to toxic ingredients. The plate will turn black if any of the food placed onto it may pose a threat for consumption. This quality has earned the Damoon collection the alternative title Bowl of Life. The second material, ott-chill lacquer, is primarily known for its antibacterial usage and durability. This lacquer is extracted from a tree and requires a lengthy process to obtain. It is resistant to scratches and wear, making it a perfect fit for Damoon. So much detail goes into creating this line, that no two plates will be the same. There is a team of highly skilled artists ensuring the manufacturing and design live up their standards. Dimensions: Bowl (8.6″ x 2.2″), Individual Plate (6.7″ x 0.8″), Small Plate (4.5″ x 1.2″) When using Damoon, there is some things to keep in mind. Given the yughee material, some stains may appear momentarily but will disappear once the plate is cleaned. Acidic food such as soy or vinegar may also cause temporary discolor. In order to ensure safe use, avoid placing this product in the stove, oven, dishwasher or any open fire.
