Inspired by Japanese Origami, designer Keiji Ashizawa came up with a flat-pack system of furniture that is each completely made out of one thin sheet of steel.
Each sheet of steel is cut, drilled, and perforated with laser. The perforated lines allow the steel to be bent, much like how a living hinge works. In this case, the lines are meant to be bent once when the furniture is put together. The individual parts are then joined together with rivets that come from the same sheet of metal.
